4-(Benzyloxy)-5-bromopyrimidine is a direct-acting antiviral agent that is an inhibitor of the RNA-dependent RNA polymerase. It has shown to be effective in treating hepatitis C virus (HCV) and severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) virus infections. 4-(Benzyloxy)-5-bromopyrimidine is a non-nucleoside inhibitor of the HCV NS5B polymerase, which prevents viral replication by preventing new viral particles from being made. This drug has been found to be well tolerated with few side effects, making it an ideal candidate for treatment in patients with chronic hepatitis C.
