Tris(hydroxyméthyl)nitrométhane, communément connu sous le nom de THN, est un composé chimique caractérisé par ses trois groupes hydroxyméthyles attachés à une structure centrale de nitrométhane. 2-(Hydroxymethyl)-2-nitro-1,3-propanediol is a detergent composition that has been shown to inhibit the growth of microorganisms. It has been used in experimental studies as a potential antimicrobial agent and is classified as a biocide. 2-(Hydroxymethyl)-2-nitro-1,3-propanediol is active against gram positive bacteria such as Staphylococcus aureus and Streptococcus pyogenes.
