CAS :Benazepril is a pharmaceutical drug that belongs to the group of model drugs. It is a prodrug, which undergoes bioactivation in vivo to benazeprilat, its active form. Benazepril is used as a treatment for high blood pressure and congestive heart failure. The concentration of benazepril in plasma can be measured using an ionization mass spectrometer (IMS) with an inorganic method or a liquid chromatography-mass spectrometer (LC-MS). The IMS technique uses deuterated benazepril as the internal standard and calibrates the instrumentation parameters with this compound. A calibration curve is then constructed from the standards and applied to samples that are analyzed by LC-MS. This calibration curve can be used for quantitation of benazepril at low levels.
