3-Chloro-4-hydroxybenzoic acid hemihydrate is an analog of forskolin that is used in cancer research. It has been shown to inhibit the growth of lung cancer cells, which may be due to its ability to activate protein kinase A and phosphatase enzymes. 3-Chloro-4-hydroxybenzoic acid hemihydrate is being studied as a potential treatment for multiple sclerosis and other autoimmune disorders, although it has not yet been approved for these conditions. This drug inhibits the proliferation of tumor suppressor protein p53 and reverses the effects of a synthetic form of fty720 on the activation of the p38 mitogen activated protein kinase.
