CAS :N-Acetyl glyphosate (NAG) is a chemical that is used as a herbicide. It is an acetylated form of glyphosate, which inhibits the growth of plants by inhibiting the synthesis of three important plant enzymes: 5-enolpyruvylshikimate-3-phosphate synthase, shikimate dehydrogenase, and acetolactate synthase. NAG has been shown to inhibit cell growth in tissue culture, which may be due to its ability to interfere with energy metabolism. This compound can also be used for sample preparation before running polymerase chain reactions (PCR).
