8-Amino-1,4-dihydroquinazolin-4-one is an anti-hepatitis C virus (HCV) agent that has potent inhibitory properties. It binds to the guanine in the viral genome and inhibits nucleoside phosphorylase, which is essential for HCV replication. 8-Amino-1,4-dihydroquinazolin-4-one also acts as a competitive inhibitor of water molecule binding to the guanine. 8-Amino-1,4-dihydroquinazolin-4-one can be used as a lead compound for development of new drugs against HCV infection.
