It has been used to quantitatively produce the cyclic compound, 2-(2-iodophenyl)-3-(3-methylindol-1-yl)propenal, which can be monitored using spectroscopy. This compound also has applications as a cross-coupling substrate in cross-coupling reactions and as a reagent for chemistry.
