Description :
Oxyde de magnésium (MgO) est un composé inorganique caractérisé par son apparence blanche et poudreuse et son point de fusion élevé. Il se forme par la réaction du magnésium avec l'oxygène et se trouve couramment dans la nature sous forme de minéral périclase. Oxyde de magnésium est connu pour sa excellente stabilité thermique et est un bon isolant électrique. Il a un point de fusion élevé, ce qui le rend adapté aux applications à haute température, comme les matériaux réfractaires dans les fours. Chimiquement, c'est un oxyde basique et il réagit avec les acides pour former des sels de magnésium. En termes de solubilité, le MgO est peu soluble dans l'eau, mais il peut réagir avec des acides pour produire des sels de magnésium solubles. Ses applications sont diverses, allant de l'utilisation dans les matériaux de construction, l'agriculture en tant qu'amendement du sol, à son rôle dans la production de métal de magnésium. De plus, Oxyde de magnésium est utilisé dans l'industrie pharmaceutique pour ses propriétés antiacides et comme complément alimentaire en magnésium.
