    <p>5-Methyl-4’-thiocytidine is an antiviral agent that has been shown to be effective against herpes simplex virus (HSV) type 1 and 2. 5-Methyl-4’-thiocytidine inhibits viral replication by competing with deoxyribonucleosides for incorporation into the viral DNA, which leads to the synthesis of defective DNA. This drug also has anticancer properties and is used in the treatment of leukemia, lymphoma, and carcinomas. 5-Methyl-4’-thiocytidine is a novel monophosphate nucleoside that can be used as an activator for phosphoramidite synthesis.
