(+)-Chloramphénicol

Description :

(+)-Chloramphénicol, avec le numéro CAS 134-90-7, est un antibiotique à large spectre dérivé à l'origine de la bactérie Streptomyces venezuelae. Il se caractérise par sa capacité à inhiber la synthèse des protéines bactériennes en se liant à la sous-unité 50S du ribosome bactérien, ce qui le rend efficace contre une variété de bactéries Gram-positives et Gram-négatives. Ce composé est une poudre cristalline blanche à jaune pâle, soluble dans l'eau et l'alcool, et a un poids moléculaire relativement faible. Sa structure chimique présente un groupe nitro et un groupe hydroxyle phénolique, contribuant à ses propriétés antibactériennes. Bien qu'il ait été largement utilisé dans le traitement des infections, son utilisation a diminué en raison d'effets secondaires potentiels, notamment l'anémie aplasique et le syndrome du bébé gris chez les nouveau-nés. En conséquence, il est désormais principalement réservé à des cas spécifiques où d'autres antibiotiques sont inefficaces. De plus, (+)-Chloramphénicol est remarquable pour sa stéréochimie, avec la désignation (+) indiquant son activité optique spécifique.
