Pf-05236216 hydrochloride is a potent and selective inhibitor of the transient receptor potential vanilloid type 1 (TRPV1) ion channel. Pf-05236216 hydrochloride has been shown to inhibit TRPV1 activation by capsaicin, resiniferatoxin, and heat in vitro and in vivo. Pf-05236216 hydrochloride also inhibits acid-sensing ion channels (ASICs) at concentrations below those required for TRPV1 inhibition. Pf-05236216 hydrochloride has been used as a research tool to study the function of TRPV1 and ASICs, as well as in studies of cell biology and peptides.
