Umibecestat is a monoclonal antibody that binds to am-6494, an absorber of serotonin. It has been shown to have therapeutic effects on hyperproliferative diseases such as cancer and inflammatory bowel disease. Umibecestat is a potent inhibitor of the serotonin reuptake transporter and exhibits anti-inflammatory properties by inhibiting the production of proinflammatory cytokines. It also inhibits metabolic disorders such as diabetes mellitus type 2 and obesity. Umibecestat has been shown to be safe in Phase 2 clinical trials for patients with IBD.
