Ethyl 4,6-dichloro-2-formylnicotinate is an anti-cancer compound that is active against a wide range of tumor cells. This compound inhibits the synthesis of DNA and RNA by binding to the enzyme ribonucleotide reductase. It has been shown to be effective against c. glabrata in vitro, with optimum concentrations being between 10 and 50 μM. Ethyl 4,6-dichloro-2-formylnicotinate also has anti-inflammatory properties through inhibition of IL10 production in mouse macrophages. This drug can be used as a chemical pesticide due to its inhibitory effects on the activity of various enzymes involved in the biosynthesis of secondary metabolites in plants.
