8-Bromo-2-methoxyquinoline (8BMQ) is a synthetic compound with pharmacomodulatory properties. It is an analogue of acetamide and is used as a pharmacological tool to simulate the effects of this drug. 8BMQ has been shown to produce a number of pharmacological profiles, including inhibition of cyclic AMP production and antagonism at the serotonin receptor. 8BMQ also acts as an agonist at the melatonergic MT1 receptor.
