Emd57003 is a calcium sensitizer that has been shown to have inotropic and contractility effects on cardiac muscle. Emd57003 is a long-term treatment for congestive heart failure. It is given intravenously as a constant infusion at low doses, which maintains the calcium concentration at a constant level and enhances the contractility of cardiac muscles. In addition, emd57003 inhibits the phosphorylation of myosin ATPase, leading to increased calcium sensitivity, which may be due to its binding to the Ca2+ binding site on myosin ATPase.
