CAS :Diclofenac is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug that inhibits the enzyme cyclooxygenase. It is used to treat pain, inflammation, and stiffness from osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis. Diclofenac methyl ester (DMEP) is a metabolite of diclofenac that can be found in human plasma samples. DMEP has been shown to have reactive properties, which may lead to the formation of oxidation products such as nitrites. DMEP also undergoes chemical degradation when exposed to organic solvents such as ethanol, acetone, and benzene.
