RPR104632 is a receptor binding drug that has been shown to have neuroprotective effects in animal models of cerebral cortex injury. This drug binds to the glutamate site on the NMDA receptor, which prevents the activation of this receptor and reduces the excitatory response. RPR104632 also inhibits tryptophan metabolism, decreasing levels of kynurenine and increasing levels of glutamate. In addition, this drug inhibits cancer cell growth by binding to receptors for guanosine, preventing cellular proliferation. RPR104632 has also been shown to inhibit carbonyl group formation in neonatal rats by inhibiting the activity of cytochrome c oxidase.
