2-(Difluoromethyl)-4H-chromen-4-one is an organic compound that is a member of the class of compounds known as oximes. It reacts with hydroxylamine to form a cyclic amine and a dioxime. 2-(Difluoromethyl)-4H-chromen-4-one can be used in the synthesis of a number of biologically active compounds. For example, it was used in the cyclodehydration reaction to synthesize 3,3′,5,5′-tetrahydroxybenzoin. The reactivity of this compound has been studied extensively using spectroscopy and X-ray crystallography.
