The HCV-1 e2 protein (484-499) is a peptide that is a fragment of the HCV-1 e2 protein. It has been shown to be neuroprotective in vitro and in vivo, by inhibiting the production of reactive oxygen species and reducing cell death. The HCV-1 e2 protein (484-499) is also able to inhibit inflammatory responses in human pancreatic cells and fibrosis in autoimmune disease models. This peptide could be used as prophylaxis or treatment for neurodegenerative disease, pancreatic cancer, infectious diseases, autoimmune diseases, or fibrotic diseases.
