2-Methyl-3-[(2S)-2-pyrrolidinylmethoxy]-pyridine dihydrochloride is a cholinergic agent. It has been shown to have neuroprotective effects by reducing the damage to dopaminergic neurons caused by neurotoxins such as MPTP and 6-OHDA. 2-Methyl-3-[(2S)-2-pyrrolidinylmethoxy]-pyridine dihydrochloride also has pharmacological effects on acetylcholine, which may lead to side effects such as nausea and vomiting. The drug is well absorbed through the gut and metabolized in the liver, with a half life of about 3 hours. It is excreted in urine, feces, and exhaled air.
