It inhibits the production of dopamine in the brain by blocking a key step in the synthesis of this neurotransmitter. 7-NINA has been shown to inhibit inflammation and neuronal death, which may be due to its ability to stimulate anti-inflammatory cytokine IL-10 and inhibit caspase 9 and cyclase. This drug also prevents ATP levels from decreasing, leading to increased metabolic rate.
