These include increased pro-inflammatory cytokines and chemokines that are released by tumor cells and activate immune cells in the microenvironment. The drug also has low bioavailability because it does not cross the blood brain barrier easily. It is currently being studied as a treatment for cancer and infectious diseases in clinical oncology trials.
