1,6-Anhydro-1-C-[4-chloro-3-[(4-ethoxyphenyl)methyl]phenyl]-5-C-methoxy-β-L-idopyranose is a potent and selective activator of the Kv1.2 potassium channel. It has been shown to increase the membrane potential in rat sympathetic neurons and to inhibit voltage sensitive sodium channels in rat hippocampal neurons. This compound also activates K+ currents in a concentration dependent manner in human embryonic kidney cells, suggesting that it may have a therapeutic effect on disorders such as epilepsy or Alzheimer's disease.
