Valganciclovir hydrochloride is a prodrug of ganciclovir. It is an antiviral drug used for the treatment and prevention of cytomegalovirus (CMV) infections. Valganciclovir hydrochloride is a prodrug of ganciclovir, which is converted to the active form in humans by esterases in the liver.
