It is used as an acylation agent and has been shown to react with azetidinones. 2-(2,5-Dioxo-2,5-dihydro-1H-pyrrol-1-yl)acetyl chloride is a colorless liquid that can be synthesized by reacting acetaldehyde with pyrrole in the presence of sodium
desulfite.
