    <p>2-Iododibenzothiophene is a molecule that has been studied for its photochemical properties. It can be selectively photolyzed, leading to the formation of a metallacycle with high regioselectivity. 2-Iododibenzothiophene can also undergo scission with sulfide, which produces two unselective isomers. The yields of these reactions are dependent on the nature of the substrate and the concentration of light used in photolysis. Organic chemistry studies have shown that 2-iodobenzothiophene is an unstable molecule. In nature, it is found in coal tar and petroleum as a byproduct of incomplete combustion. 2-Iododibenzothiophene has been shown to undergo selective photochemistry and reactivity with sulfide.</p>
