KI696 is a low expression mutant of epidermal growth factor (EGF) which has been shown to be active in the treatment of radiation-induced skin damage. KI696 was found to inhibit ferroptosis, a type of programmed cell death, and increase aerobic glycolysis. It also increased iron homeostasis and growth factor response pathways, which may have therapeutic benefits for cancer.
