Y06036 is a small molecule that binds to the bromodomain, a protein domain found in many proteins. Y06036 has been shown to inhibit tumor growth and improve survival in mice with cancer by interfering with insulin-like growth factors (IGFs). Y06036 also inhibits IGF-I binding to the IGF receptor and decreases phosphorylation of Akt, which blocks IGF-1R signaling. Y06036 also shows contraceptive effects and could be used as a treatment for heart disease.
