Methyl 3,4,5-trimethoxybenzoate has been shown to be a useful model system for studying hydrogen bonding in organic chemistry. When heated with sodium carbonate and chloride in water, the methyl 3,4,5-trimethoxybenzoate reacts with n-dimethyl formamide to produce reaction products. This reaction can be accelerated by adding triticum aestivum and sodium hydroxide solution.
