It is an efficient method for the synthesis of diethyl etherate from diethyl ether and a boron trifluoride etherate. This catalyst has been used to synthesize imidoyl cations from N-alkyl isocyanides with high efficiency and selectivity, as well as to synthesize diethyl etherate from diethyl ether and a boron trifluoride etherate.
