2-Diethylaminoethanethiol hydrochloride is a cationic surfactant that is used in the treatment of cancer. It has been shown to be an effective antiviral agent against hepatitis B virus and herpes simplex virus, as well as a potent inhibitor of cancer cell growth. 2-Diethylaminoethanethiol hydrochloride binds to opioid receptors and blocks pain signals from being transmitted to the brain.
