CAS :2-Nitro-L-phenylalanine is an hydroxamic acid that is used in clinical photodynamic therapy for the treatment of cancer. It reacts with light to produce reactive oxygen species, which cause DNA damage and cell death. 2NPA can be found in micelles and is able to bind to quaternary ammonium salts. This active form can be produced by genetically engineered enzymes with chemical biology tools. The cleavage products are not yet fully understood, but they may include a cyclic peptide that has been shown to have antioxidant properties.

CAS :Produit contrôléApplications L-2-Nitrophenylalanine is a derivative of L-phenylalanine (P319415), and is used in the photocleavage of polypeptide backbones. L-Phenylalanine is an essential amino acid. L-Phenylalanine is biologically converted into L-tyrosine, another one of the DNA-encoded amino acids, which in turn is converted to L-DOPA and further converted into dopamine, norepinephrine, and epinephrine.
