It is an alkylating agent that can form covalent bonds with the oxygen atom of an aromatic ring, as well as with the hydroxyl group of a phenol or alcohol. 3-Cyclopentylbenzaldehyde binds to human serum albumin and has high potency in inhibiting cholesterol ester transfer and cholesteryl ester transfer. 3-Cyclopentylbenzaldehyde has been shown to be effective in screening for new drugs for the treatment of Alzheimer's disease and Parkinson's disease.
