[(5,5-Dimethyltetrahydrofuran-3-yl)methyl]amine is a synthetic compound that regulates the expression of regulatory genes. It has been shown to be a potent inhibitor of neurospora sensitivity. The structure of [(5,5-dimethyltetrahydrofuran-3-yl)methyl]amine is similar to the structure of the acid analogues of this compound. [(5,5-Dimethyltetrahydrofuran-3-yl)methyl]amine also binds to and derepresses structural genes by inhibiting transcription and pathways for protein synthesis. This mechanism may be related to its inhibitory effects on neurospora sensitivity.
