CAS :<p>5,6-Dichloro-3-nitropyridin-2-amine is a potent antiviral agent that is active against a broad spectrum of viruses. It has been shown to have selectivity for intracellular viruses, such as cytomegalovirus and herpes simplex virus type 1, and high cytotoxicity. 5,6-Dichloro-3-nitropyridin-2-amine interferes with the function of viral RNA by binding to the enzyme ribonucleotide reductase. This inhibits the synthesis of viral DNA and RNA, thereby inhibiting viral replication and transcription.
