It is synthesized by the reaction of cytidine with 2’-chloroethylisocyanate to form a methylated derivative, which is converted to 2’-C-methylisocytidine via phosphorylation. This nucleoside has been shown to have anticancer properties and may be used as an activator for the synthesis of DNA or RNA.</p>
