CAS :5’-Deoxy-5’-iodo-2’-O-(2-methoxyethyl)uridine is a synthetic nucleoside that has antiviral and anticancer properties. This compound is an activator of DNA, which promotes the synthesis of RNA and protein. 5’-Deoxy-5’-iodo-2’-O-(2-methoxyethyl)uridine (IDOX) is an analog of deoxyribonucleosides, ribonucleosides, and monophosphates. IDOX is able to inhibit the replication of certain viruses by acting as a competitive inhibitor. This compound also has the ability to inhibit tumor cells that contain pyrimidine analogs. IDOX is also effective against cancer cells that have developed resistance to chemotherapy drugs such as 5FU or methotrexate.
