    <p>Methyl (1S,2R,3R,8S)-4-formylcubane-1-carboxylate is a bridgehead molecule with electronic properties. It is synthesized from adamantane in three steps. The methyl group can be functionalized to form a number of products with medicinal and industrial applications. Methyl (1S,2R,3R,8S)-4-formylcubane-1-carboxylate has been shown to inhibit the growth of bacteria by inhibiting protein synthesis. This compound also has anti-inflammatory properties that are due to its ability to inhibit prostaglandin synthesis. Methyl (1S,2R,3R,8S)-4-formylcubane-1-carboxylate summarizes the structural and functional groups found on adamantane in addition to providing an overview of its synthesis.</p>
