CAS :<p>Losartan is a drug that is used to treat high blood pressure and congestive heart failure. It is an angiotensin II receptor antagonist that blocks the binding of angiotensin II to its receptor, preventing the activation of protein kinase A and the release of aldosterone. Losartan is also known as losartan-related compound E (LZE). LZE has been shown to have a papain-like protease activity with a light chain. This activity may be responsible for its anti-diabetic effects. LZE has been shown to inhibit hyperglycemia in mice by reducing serum glucose levels and increasing insulin sensitivity.
