Boc-Cys(Trt)-OH also inhibits the production of acid conjugates, which are molecules that are toxic to humans, and has a safety profile. This drug is synthesized on a solid phase and has a disulfide bond that links two cysteines residues. The disulfide bond is important for the stability of Boc-Cys(Trt)-OH, which may be postulated to be due to its ability to bind with Toll-like receptors. Boc-Cys(Trt)-OH may also have anticancer activity by inhibiting protein synthesis in cancer cells.
