7-(4-Methoxyphenyl)-5-phenyl-7H-pyrrolo[2,3-d]pyrimidin-4-ol is a crankcase cleaner that has been shown to have antiviral effects against influenza virus. It inhibits the production of messenger RNA by binding to the 3' end of the message and preventing its release from the ribosome. This chemical also prevents protein synthesis by inhibiting the enzyme eukaryotic initiation factor 2 (eIF2). 7-(4-Methoxyphenyl)-5-phenyl-7H-pyrrolo[2,3-d]pyrimidin-4-ol is reactive and may be harmful if it comes in contact with skin or eyes. It is not a good idea to mix this chemical with other chemicals because it could cause an explosion.
