CAS :4,4'-Oxybis(benzoic acid) is a stable complex with cyclohexanol and p-hydroxybenzoic acid. This compound has a functional group that consists of the benzoic acid moiety and the oxy-moiety. The oxy-moiety is present as an ester in 4,4'-oxybis(benzoic acid). The stability of this complex is due to the hydrogen bonding interactions between the two molecules. These interactions are also responsible for the photochemical properties of this compound. The hydrochloride salt of 4,4'-oxybis(benzoic acid) exhibits fluorescence properties at high concentrations (pH > 10). When dissolved in trifluoromethanesulfonic acid, it yields a salt with chloride ions.
