CAS :Produit contrôléDifluprednate is a corticosteroid that is used topically to treat eye inflammation. It has been shown to reduce ocular inflammation in rats and mice, with no effect on the cornea. Difluprednate is prepared as an aqueous solution containing benzalkonium chloride, which acts as a preservative. The medication can be used for short periods of time, but prolonged use may lead to bowel disease and polymerase chain reactions. Difluprednate has anti-inflammatory activity and can be used in place of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). It has been found that prednisolone acetate, the active form of difluprednate, inhibits inflammatory cells in vitro by inhibiting nuclear factor kappaB activation.
