Autogramin-1 is an autophagy inhibitor that binds to the transfer protein, preventing its function in autophagosome formation. This inhibition prevents the transfer of proteins into the lysosome and may be selective for certain proteins. Autogramin-1 has been shown to inhibit cholesterol synthesis and phosphatidylinositol turnover, leading to a decrease in lipid droplets in adipocytes.
