Méthoptérine

Description :

Méthoptérine, également connu sous le nom de 4-amino-4-désoxy-N10-méthylptéroylglutamique, est un analogue du folate et un membre de la classe des composés antifolates. Il est principalement reconnu pour son rôle d'inhibiteur de la dihydrofolate réductase, une enzyme critique dans la synthèse des acides nucléiques. Méthoptérine se caractérise par sa structure complexe, qui comprend un anneau de ptéridine, un groupe acide para-aminobenzoïque et une chaîne latérale d'acide glutamique. Ce composé est souvent utilisé dans le traitement de certains cancers et maladies auto-immunes en raison de sa capacité à interférer avec la prolifération cellulaire. Méthoptérine est soluble dans l'eau et présente un poids moléculaire relativement faible. Methotrexate Related Compound C (MRCC) is a drug that binds to the folate receptor and inhibits the synthesis of purines, pyrimidines, and dNTPs. It can be used in the treatment of autoimmune diseases, cancer, and hyperproliferative diseases. MRCC is not effective against acute lymphoblastic leukemia or myelodysplastic syndrome. MRCC has been shown to have therapeutic effects on skin cancer cells in tissue culture by inhibiting their proliferation. The mechanism of action may be due to its ability to inhibit protein kinase C activity. MRCC has been shown to be an effective inhibitor of lipid kinase in vitro and in vivo.
