CAS :6-Bromo-1-hexene is a chemical compound that belongs to the group of methyl ketones. It has been shown to be a competitive inhibitor of the reaction between chloride and ethyl esters with aluminium. The mechanism of this inhibition is not clear, but it may involve an intermediate formation with aluminium chloride, which blocks the active site or alters the substrate binding. 6-Bromo-1-hexene has also been shown to have an effect on ft-ir spectroscopy and nmr spectra of chlorides in control experiments. The addition of halides such as chlorine or bromine to 6-bromo-1-hexene leads to the formation of 6-chloro-, 6-bromo-, or 5,6,7,8,-tetrabromo 1 hexene.
