CAS :3,5-Bis(trifluoromethyl)benzonitrile is a denaturant that prevents proteins from unfolding. It is an organic solvent that is unreactive with amines and other nitrogen containing compounds. 3,5-Bis(trifluoromethyl)benzonitrile has been shown to react with myoglobin as a bidentate ligand to increase the solubility of proteins. This chemical also reacts with chloride, alkene, and techniques to form 3-chloro-3,5-bis(trifluoromethyl)benzonitrile and 3-chloro-3-(4,4,5,5-tetramethyl-[1,3,2]dioxaborolan-2-yl)benzonitrile. The trifluoromethyl group on this chemical can be used for immobilized catalysis reactions.
