The glycosylation of 2-(benzyloxycarbonylamino)-2-deoxy-D-galactose has been shown to be more stable than that of other sugars, such as glucose or maltose. This modification can be accomplished by a click reaction. 2-(Benzyloxycarbonylamino)-2-deoxy-D-galactose can be used to modify proteins, such as antibodies and enzymes, by glycosylating amino acid residues on the protein surface.
