Propane-2-yl 2-sulfoacetate is an amine that is used as a curing agent in rubber products. It is also used in the production of dyes, pharmaceuticals, and chemical intermediates. Propane-2-yl 2-sulfoacetate reacts with diamines to form sulfonamides. This reaction can be catalyzed by ammonium salts, such as ammonium sulfate. Propane-2-yl 2-sulfoacetate has been shown to have antibacterial properties against Gram positive bacteria and fungi.
