CAS :2-Butylhexanoic acid is a fatty acid that is present in the human brain and has been shown to be involved in depression. It binds to the lectin, which is a type of glycoprotein found on the surface of cells. 2-Butylhexanoic acid has been shown to be effective against gliomas, which are tumors that arise from cells in the brain's supportive tissue. The lectin may be responsible for binding 2-butylhexanoic acid to cancer cells. This drug is also an inhibitor of butyric acid oxidation and can be used as an anti-emetic, or nausea medication. 2-Butylhexanoic acid has functional groups such as carbonyl groups and pentenoic acids in its chemical structure and is desulfurized by gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) dehydrogenase into gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) with thiols.
